A Heart For Obedience

“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.” Psalms 24:3-4
I love this scripture. It’s always spoken to me in a way to say, stay clean, stay humble abide by the word of the Lord and get closer to Him.
That’s true, but it’s not easy and we cannot do it in our own strength. We have to heed the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit, we must take the word of the Lord to heart. We must be true to who He created us to be and not look to the world for answers. The world is following right along with their father, as scripture tells us.
God knows our hearts, He knows our intentions and motivation for everything we do and don’t do. Do you want to be closer to God or fit in more with the world? We know how this ends. We have read and heard. We have heard the warnings from Paul and others about how to walk WITH Jesus and the consequences for living in the ways or the world. No, we don’t always get it right, but He is our ever present help.
Yes, we are called to win souls for Jesus. Jesus hung out with those who needed to be saved, but He did not follow behind them in their actions and conform to the ways of the world. He lived His life as an example (blameless) and has called us to do the same. But He also knows that our flesh is weak. The good news is that the spirit is willing. Paul told us to count the cost, because it does cost and can be very painful. But Jesus gave up His life for us, what are we willing to sacrifice for Him? Time, money, those things that we love to do the most, our own hearts desires and our will? What are you willing to sacrifice these things to walk in obedience?
He’s calling us up higher, a shift has already happened and is still happening. Can you see it, can you feel it? We must walk in obedience and not folly. We don’t know the day or the hour, but we know the Lord's return is upon us. Please, don’t ignore that pull at your heart, that thought that says, stop this and come spend time with Me. He loves you and wants to be with you. Don’t blow Him off. Be encouraged.
